This Port is a limited edition containing a numbered A3 silkscreen print, of just 1000 units, and signed by the artist Herculano da Costa, watercolor painter, journalist and film actor, with appearances in films by director António-Pedro Vasconcelos, being the original version from this work an acrylic painting, "Fernando Pessoa - The Portuguese diaspora", which was part of the setting for the film KM 224.
Until around 1756, the production of "embarkation wines", as Port Wines were called at the time, followed the so-called "old process" of winemaking. The brandy, always in a small volume, only took place after fermentation had ended, thus obtaining dry wines.
In 1820, the modern brandy process emerged, causing alcoholic fermentation to stop, resulting in sweet wines. This elaboration process only became widespread in 1852, when Port Wines began to resemble those of today.
Therefore, Port Wine is a liqueur wine, produced in the Douro Demarcated Region, under peculiar conditions derived from natural and human factors. The elaboration process, based on tradition, includes stopping the fermentation of the must by adding wine brandy, blending the wines and, subsequently, aging.
Port Wines are divided into different categories depending on the type of aging, varying between Ruby, Tawny, White and Rosé styles.
